The “Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act” (FACTA) was signed into law in December of 2003. FACTA gives consumers the right, under Federal Law, to get one free comprehensive disclosure of all of the information in their credit file from each of the three major credit reporting bureaus once every twelve months.

FACTA required the three credit reporting bureaus to establish a Central Source through which consumers request their statutory free annual credit file disclosure.
